Download Instructions Go back to Updates
File download and execution generally takes one of two forms. Not all browsers provide both options, and different versions of the same browser present the options differently. The two methods are described below.
1. Automatic Execution
This method downloads a copy of the file to a temporary folder on the local machine, then automatically executes that file when the transfer is complete.
- Click the link for the download.
- Select "Run this program from its current location" or "Open" or similar option.
- When the download completes, installation starts automatically, giving instruction on how to proceed.
2. Separate Download and Execution Steps
This method downloads a copy of the file to the local PC. When the download is complete, the file must be located and executed, which starts the installation process. The general steps for this procedure are:
- Click the link for the download.
- Select "Save" or "Save to disk" or similar option.
- The "Save As" dialog appears, allowing you to choose a location to save the file. If you are unsure about the default location, click the "Save in:" control at the top of the dialog. The control will expand and display the current location for the file (disk, folder, subfolder, etc.), and allow you to select a different location if you choose.
- Click the "Save" button.
- When the download completes, start Windows Explorer and browse to the location to which the file was saved.
- Double click on the saved file which starts the installation process, and follow the instructions.
Note: The advantage of method one is its simplicity - fewer steps and automatic start of the installation. The advantage of method two exists in the copy of the installation program in a known location on the local machine. If you have to recover your machine or reinstall the upgrade, it is not necessary to repeat the download, just rerun the saved file.
